The Village of New Richmond was awarded an Ohio Public Works Commission State Issue 2 Grant to be used to upgrade the Bethel New Richmond Road Water Pump Station.

According to a release from New Richmond Administrator Dave Kennedy, the grant totaled $109,025 with the village providing a local match of $13,475.

“The project will allow for an upgrade of the pump station with new pumps, valves, piping, control panels and building repairs,” Kennedy said in the release.

Kennedy said the Bethel New Richmond Road Pump station supplies water to the elevated tower located on the New Richmond School District campus. That tower supplies water to the schools and the communities located on the hillside.

“This project coupled with last year’s OPWC award to replace the main feeding the village reservoir allows the village to make major water system repairs without increasing water rates,” Kennedy said in the release.

Kennedy said he expects the project to begin by August.
