Union Township Trustees approved the promotion of Union Township Police Officer Greg Jasper to sergeant during their March 28 meeting.
Administrator Ken Geis made the recommendation, along with Police Chief Terry Zinser.
“Officer Jasper has been with the police department for quite some time,” Geis said. “From my personal experience, he has done a great job.”
Geis said Jasper has gone through all the procedures required to become a sergeant. He said accomplishing the requirements for the rank says a lot about Jasper’s character.
Several other police officers attended the meeting to congratulate Jasper.
Geis said their attendance also shows a lot about Jasper’s character. He said he continues to be impressed by the employees they have at the township.
Trustees approved the promotion during the meeting.
“My experience with him has been top notch,” Trustee Tim Donnellon said.
Trustees Matthew Beamer and Robert McGee agreed.
“I am happy to see him get this promotion,” McGee said. “It is long overdue.”
Jasper said being promoted to sergeant at the department has been a culmination of almost 20 years of police work.
He said he was honored to receive the promotion for his hard work.
“I am grateful the trustees thought the same,” Jasper said about his work for the department.
Jasper said it has been an honor to serve with the individuals he works with at the department and the township, and he is looking forward to his work as sergeant.
“All of the sergeants do an awesome job,” Jasper said. “I hope I can continue the tradition.
Jasper’s promotion is effective as of April 2.
