Dead man identified by coroner
The body of a man found in a tent in Batavia Township Friday, Feb. 22 has been identified.
The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office, using past medical records, positively identified the body as Eugene B. Woodruff Monday, Feb. 25 and next of kin was notified.
Woodruff was reported missing in October 2011.
The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office reported that there was no trauma detected on the body and the cause of death has been ruled “undetermined.”
At 5:06 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, the Clermont County Communication Center received a 911 call from an individual who was walking in a wooded area while looking for his dog and came upon a tent that had a deceased person inside of it. Clermont County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol along with Batavia Twp.Fire and EMS responded to the scene.
The tent was in a dense section of the wooded area between Old SR 74 and SR 32.
Investigators from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office responded and processed the scene. The Clermont County Coroner’s Office responded and transported the body to the Hamilton Coroner’s Office for an autopsy and positive identification.
