Laban Shields, 89
Laban “Etta” Shields, 89, of Union Township, died Jan. 11 in Anderson Township.
Shields worked in the health care industry as a nurses aid.
She is survived by her children Barbara Joan (Roy) Espie, Joseph Wayne (Carol) and Jeffrey David Shields, grandchildren Tara (Aron) Conrad, Trisha Vespie, Erica (Joe) Ritter, Emily Lehn and Stephanie Shields, great-grandchildren Blake, Eli, William, Macey, Joseph and Brooklyn, siblings Faye (Tom) Moss, Roxie Bitzer, Shirley Pappenheimer, Allen (Phillis), Clifford (Fay), Earl (Louise), Jim (Mary) and Warren Varner, brothers and sisters-in-law Shirley “Tay” Varner, Marjorie and Wilbur Smith.
She was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph William Shields, father Laban Wesley and mother Mamie Bell Varner, siblings Mary (Robert) Pottinger, Wesley (Pat) and Joseph Varner and sisters-in-law Janet and Lynn Varner.
Services 11 a.m. Jan. 16 at Evans Funeral Home. Interment at Graceland Memorials Gardens in Milford. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association or donor’s favorite charity.
