Congressman elect Brad Wenstrup will be using former Congresswoman Jean Schmidt’s Union Township office at the Union Township Civic Center beginning this month.

Union Township Trustees approved the office lease agreement during their Dec. 27 meeting.

Matt Dole, an advisor to the Wenstrup transition team, said they made the decision to keep the office a couple weeks ago.

“Brad will be in Clermont County a lot,” Dole said. “It will be a very active office.”

Dole said Wenstrup’s district director will be located at his Hamilton County office.

He said Wenstrup will have several offices throughout his congressional district. The district includes Adams, Brown, Clermont, Hamilton, Highland, Pike, Ross and Scioto counties.

Dole said the offices will be up and running shortly after Wenstrup is sworn into office.

He said Wenstrup is scheduled to be sworn into office on Jan. 3 in Washington D.C.

Wenstrup’s transition team is assisting him in finding office locations as well as staff members to run the offices throughout the district.

Wenstrup was elected to the United States House of Representatives in the Second Congressional District on Nov. 6. He defeated his democratic opponent, William Smith by 57,219 votes.

Wenstrup defeated former Congresswoman Jean Schmidt and other Republican opponents in the March primary election.
