Hubert Keith Arnold, 83, of Batavia, died Nov. 26.

Arnold served in the United States Marine Corps from 1948-1952 and the California Highway Patrol from 1955-1983. While in Auburn, California he was an active member of First Baptist Church, Placer County Historical Society and Museum, Oregon-California Trails Association and volunteered at Placer High School. While in Yreka, California, he was a member of Berean Church, the Siskiyou County Historical Society and Museum and the Marine Corps League and OCTA. While living in Batavia, he was an active member of First Baptist Church of Glen Este, and frequently volunteered at Seven Hills School. Wherever he lived he was known for his selfless work with youth groups, schools and churches.

He is survived by his wife Betty Jo Arnold, children Nancy Rhea Arnold and Brian Alan (Lee) Arnold and grandson Scott Riley Arnold.

Services at 2 p.m. Dec. 8 at First Baptist Church of Glen Este in Batavia. Memorials to the American Cancer Society or to First Baptist Church of Glen Este.
