The Associated Press announced its 2012 Southwest Ohio All-District Team last month, which is compiled based on the recommendation of a media panel, and the teams were chalk-full of Clermont County talent.

Seven Clermont County schools were represented by 19 different athletes that were deemed worthy of All-District honors. While more than half were selected as Honorable Mentions, nine of the athletes were awarded Second Team honors at their various division levels, including New Richmond and Batavia who both had three players selected to the Second Team in their respective divisions. Williamsburg also had two players selected to the Second Team.

Beginning in Division III, New Richmond’s trio of Second Team All-Southwest Oho were Cole Bird, James White and Alex Horn.

The three Lions were selected based on their merits as a defensive unit. White and Bird played defensive line and Horn played linebacker. Horn led the team in tackles with 68. He also forced one fumble and had an interception. White was third on the team in tackling with 47. He forced and recovered a pair of fumbles as well. Bird was fourth on the team in tackles with 44. He forced three fumbles.

The other Second Team selection in Division II was Goshen’s Kyle Monhollen, an offensive lineman.

Honorable Mentions in Division III included Monhollen’s teammates Marcus Casey and Andrew Faith.

In Division IV, the Batavia Bulldogs were honored following their historic season that saw the team win its first playoff game in school history. Brody Browning was the lone offensive player selected for the Second Team for Batavia thanks to his prowess as an offensive lineman.

Browning was joined by teammates Gabe Archer and Ryan Gormley on the Second Team. Although Archer and Gormley play on both sides of the ball, they were selected for their seasons on the defensive side.

Archer led the Bulldogs’ defense with 59 tackles. He also forced three fumbles and recovered five to go along with his pair of interceptions. Gormley was third on the team in tackles with 29. The senior also forced and recovered one fumble and picked off two passes.

Fellow Bulldogs to be selected as Honorable Mentions included KeShawn Foley, Zainn Ison and Mike Posey.

Also Division IV Second Team selections included a pair of Williamsburg Wildcats, Andrew Dean and Jordan Wright. Dean had 22 tackles on the year, forced four fumbles and recovered one. Wright had 75 tackles, forced two fumbles and recovered one.

Also receiving honors in Division IV were Clermont Northeastern’s Dallas Miracle and Clay Cousino.

In Division I and II, Glen Este and Amelia had an Honorable Mention, respectively.

Glen Este’s Victor Cave was named an Honorable Mention in DI and Cohen Canter was named an Honorable Mention in Division II.
