The Western and Southern Open in Mason at the Lindner Family Tennis Center gives fans in the Greater Cincinnati Area perhaps their best opportunity to watch the most elite tennis players in the world.

As the players return to the United States following a Grand Slam event at Wimbledon as well as the Olympics in London, the biggest names in the sport descend upon Cincinnati year after year to prepare for the upcoming United States Open.

The top players choose to come to Cincinnati in order to prepare because of the hard courts that the Lindner Family Tennis Center presents. The type of court allows players to get acclimated to the surface and best prepares them for the last Grand Slam of the Year.

Among those competing in the tournament that kicked off on Monday, Aug. 13 and runs until Sunday, Aug. 19 include: Roger Federer, Serena and Venus Williams, Caroline Wozniacki, Andy Murray, Andy Roddick, Mardy Fish and many others.

The tournament runs throughout the week with sessions each day at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

These players only come around once a year, make sure not to miss it.
