Glen Este High School announced that senior track and cross country stand out Steven Stoffel has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his running career at California University (Penn.) Vulcans.
“I am excited to continue my running career at California University,” Stoffel said in a statement released by the school. “During my visit to Cal U in November 2011, I was impressed by Coach Caulfield and the members of both the track and cross country teams.
“I am truly honored to be able to compete for such a wonderful university, coach and team.”
Stoffel has stacked up many awards during his time as a Trojan highlighted by his being named a Fort Ancient Valley Conference First Team selection four times. Stoffel was also named as the Ohio Southwest District Champion in track.
Before finally deciding on California University, Stoffel also entertained offers from Ashland University and Tiffin University.
Stoffel plans to major in biology while attending California University where he was awarded both academic and athletic scholarships.
California University is a NCAA Division II school.
Stoffel wanted to extend his thanks to his family and friends who have helped him to achieve his goals. In particular, Stoffel wanted to extend his gratitude to Angie Carson and Holly Schwalbach, his track and cross country coaches at Glen Este, for their support throughout his high school career.
Steven is the son of Todd and Amy Stoffel.
