Wiedenbein
Incumbent Clermont County Clerk of Common Pleas Barb Wiedenbein defeated her Republican opponent David Uible in the primary election March 6. She does not have a Democratic opponent in the November election.

“I am so grateful to the voters,” Wiedenbein said after the unofficial results came in. “And saying I am grateful doesn’t seem like enough.”

Wiedenbein defeated Uible by 1,100 votes. She received 13,349 votes, or 52.15 percent, while Uible received 12,249 votes, or 47.85 percent.

Wiedenbein moved to Clermont County when she was 9 years old. She graduated from Milford High School and lived in Texas and Florida before moving back home.

She was first elected as clerk in 2005, and since then said she has worked to build a solid foundation at the office by developing relationships with employees and working to make sure things run smoothly.

She said she ran for re-election because she enjoys all facets of the job and is not ready to retire.

“The law to me is just very interesting,” Wiedenbein said before the election. “It is something different every day.”

She said her plans for the future are to continue to pursue e-filing, work to have information available online for attorneys and do what is needed to keep the office running efficiently.

“I have some things I would like to complete and I am looking forward to that,” Wiedenbein said.

Election results are unofficial until the Board of Elections certifies them in the coming weeks.
