Katie Whitaker knows her business. The Amelia High School senior has just been named Outstanding Business Education Student by the Business Education Division of the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE). She will be honored at the ACTE National Conference in St. Louis in November.
As a student in the Great Oaks Business Management program at Amelia, she is involved in the Business Professionals of America (PBA) organization. Last year, she was part of a team of students that placed in the top ten in state BPA competition.
This year, Whitaker is a candidate for a BPA State Officer position. She passed the first round of competition—a test and interview—and will make a speech to the entire assembly of the Ohio Association in her bid to become a state officer.
The Business Management program at Amelia High School is a program of the Great Oaks Career Campuses, and is taught by Rebecca Landen.
