Jon McDonald
Jon McDonald, Amelia High School senior, has signed a letter-of-intent to continue his education and athletic career at Muskingum University, New Concord, Ohio.

The son of William and Diane McDonald plans to major in criminal justice and to play football for the Fighting Muskies.

“The coaches are really good there and the campus is real nice and I think it would be a good match for me,” he said.

As a Baron, McDonald lettered three falls of football as a nose guard and defensive and offensive tackle. He earned Southern Buckeye Conference American Division all-star recognition.

Two gridiron games stand out in his mind as big games of his standout career.

“In our game with Milford I made seven tackles in a row. . . in our game at Batavia I made more than 20 tackles.”

“My parents have always encouraged me and supported me in everything I’ve ever done,” said a very grateful son. “(Amelia head football) coach (Randy) Hospelhorn is a very good coach I learned a lot from him. He was a good influence on me. . . (defensive line) coach Rex (Stewart) really helped me with all my basics and was very encouraging to me.”
