Brandon McCafferky, Amelia High School senior, has signed a letter-of-intent to continue his education and athletic career at Thomas More College in northern Kentucky.

He plans to major in the field of sports entertainment and marketing and he will play football.

“They offered a major course in sports entertainment and I thought that was fabulous. They have a fabulous football program, too,” he explained in why he chose to study and play at Thomas More.

For the Barons of Amelia High he played football where he lettered as a running back and he also competed in track and field.

He earned scholar-athlete recognition at Amelia.

A game of big importance standouts out in his mind as a major moment of his fine athletic career.

“People thought we weren’t going to be good in the new league (Southern Buckeye Conference American Division) especially after we lost our first game, but our next game against Batavia we proved we could win. I scored two touchdowns in that game, one was on a long pass play,” he said.

A couple of people have stood out in his mind as important people in his success.

He said, “My mom (Amy Walker) has always been there for me. She is the most positive person I’ve ever known. . . (Amelia High assistant football) coach Steve Dahlheimer (a former Bethel-Tate High School coach and sports standout) took extra time to work with me on things. He has been a great role model for me.”
