The rebounding of Kevin Keeton and Elliot Young helped Williamsburg to control the boards most of the season to help the Wildcats to the Southern Buckeye National championship.
Milford (Fort Ancient Valley Conference East Division), Goshen (Southern Buckeye Conference American Division), and Williamsburg (Southern Buckeye Conference National Division) each won their respective boys basketball division championships.

Feb. 15

Goshen

The Warriors skimmed by Ross 48-46 in non-conference competition as the Red and Gray was ahead after the first two frames 14-8 and 28-23 before the visiting Rams held a momentary third period edge of 39-35. The Red and Gray’s offense was powered by senior guard Derek Koch with 15 points (including two three-pointers), senior guard Nick Wake 14 (four three pointers), and senior guard Anthony Voto 10 (two three-pointers).

Amelia

The Barons topped Oyler’s Hatmakers 79-58 in a non-conference confrontation at the barony. The Blue and White was in the lead at each break 27-9, 33-23, and 47-37. A quartet of Clermont countians netted twin figures – senior forward Tanner Owens 25 points (three three-pointers), freshman guard Trevor Simon 17 (three three-pointers), senior forward Justin Andler 15, and senior guard Brandon Cooper 10.

Milford

The Eagles lost a Fort Ancient Valley East game at Kings 71-65. The Knights were in the lead after each period 12-11, 24-22, and 44-36. Junior forward Robert Overbeck made 18 points and senior guard Zach Baker 15 (three three-pointers) for the Red and White.

Clermont Northeastern

In a battle between Rockets, the McNicholas version emerged victorious 62-52. The visiting Clermont County version was in the lead 15-9 and 32-25 after the first two stanzas, but McNick eked out a 47-45 lead after three frames. Senior forward Ryan Mummert made 17 points and senior guard-forward Jake Hogue 11 to be the Blue and Gold’s offensive leaders in this non-league fray.

New Richmond

The Lions returned from Indian Hill after a 52-39 loss to Cincinnati Country Day. The hosts steadily pulled away 11-10, 23-20, and 37-24 in this non-league tilt. Junior guard Nick Hill (two three-pointers) and senior forward Joey McCabe both accounted for 10 points for the Red and Black.

February 16

Clermont Northeastern

The Rockets blasted the visiting Blanchester Wildcats 66-44 in a non-division contest of the Southern Buckeye Conference. The Blue and Gold was in control all the way 19-8, 32-14, and 50-28. Jake Hogue made 12 points, senior forward-center John Bailey 11, and senior forward Troy Miller 10 for the triumphant.

February 12

New Richmond

The Lions improvement continues as the Red and Black added Western Brown to its list of victims 54-38. This was a Southern Buckeye American game. The hosts were ahead at each rest 14-13, 23-20, and 41-38. Hill sank 20 points (two three-pointers), junior guard Jake Gundler 10, and senior forward Shane Campbell (two three-pointers).

Williamsburg

The Wildcats bombed Batavia 54-37 in the Southern Buckeye National. The visitors were in control throughout 13-8, 22-20, and 42-29. For ‘Burg senior guard-forward Elliot Young made 17 points (four three-pointers), senior forward Matt Richardson 14, and sophomore forward Kendal Young 14. Sophomore forward Alex White’s nine points led the Green and White’s scoring.

Felicity

The Cardinals sent Georgetown’s G-Men home a sad bunch following a 69-61 Southern Buckeye National win. The Red and White was in command at each stop 19-4, 36-24, and 50-44. Felicity’s balanced scoring was a key factor in the final outcome. Junior forward Jeremy Moore made 19 points, senior forward Matt O’Brien 13, junior guard Trevor Shouse 12, and senior center Kyle Helton 11.

Bethel-Tate

The Tigers outlasted visiting Amelia 60-50 in the Southern Buckeye American. Bethel held quarter leads of 19-5, 32-17, and 44-31. Senior forward Tyler Bullock sank 23 points and senior guard Garrett Lang 17 for the Red and Gray. Owens made 16 points (two three-pointers), senior forward Kevin Morse 13, and Simon 10 for the Barons.

February 18

Milford

Milford won the Fort Ancient Valley East title with is win over visiting Little Miami 49-43. The Eagles had to rally to overcome the Panthers who were ahead after the first three intermissions 18-15, 29-21, and 36-34. Seniors Jess Stankeveh, a guard, and Nick Hittner, a forward, both made 15 points for the champions.

Glen Este

The Trojans took Kings 53-35 in the Fort Ancient East with quarter advantages of 11-5, 20-12, and 38-24. Senior forward Mike Bouley sank 20 points and senior guard Corey Goedde 15 to lead the Purple and White’s scoring.

Goshen

The Warriors wiped out New Richmond 66-42. They were ahead of their guests 16-6, 26-18, and 42-31 at the breaks. Senior guards Derek Koch and Wake tallied 20 (two three-pointers) and 17 points, respectively, for the victors Shane Campbell made 14 and senior guard-forward Zak Ritter (two three-pointers) for the vanquished.

Clermont Northeastern

The Rockets routed Bethel-Tate on the losers’ floor 73-58 in the Southern Buckeye American. The Blue and Gold was in the forefront throughout 16-14, 33-31, and 49-45. Four of CNE netted double digits – Jake Hogue 18, senior forward Ryan Mummert 14, senior guard Hunter Voshell 13 (two three-pointers), and senior guard-forward Josh Hogue 10. The Tigers, too, had balanced scoring – Lang 19, Atkins 13 (three three-pointers), and senior guard-forward Andy Courts 12.

Felicity

The Cardinals caged Batavia 50-43 in the Southern Buckeye National. The visiting Bulldogs were up 53-45 after the first eight minutes, but the Red and White took over at the other rests 29-17 and 38-26. O’Brien led the winners’ scoring with 18 points, Helton had 15, and Shouse 10. White countered with 12 for the Green and White and Smith and Bradburn each added 10.

Amelia

The Barons were beaten at home by Western Brown 62-47 in the Southern Buckeye American. The Broncos were up all the way 14-10, 30-17, and 44-36. Owens made 15 points and Simon two three-pointers for the home boys.

Williamsburg

The Wildcats were nosed out at the end by Blanchester 53-45 in a Southern Buckeye National showdown. The teams were tied at 12 after the first quarter, ‘Burg led 23-21 at the half and it was tied again at 39 after three periods of play. Kendal Young was the Clermont countians’ lone twin figure scorer with 21 points (three three-pointers).

February 19

Glen Este

The Trojans won out over Wilmington’s Hurricanes in the Fort Ancient East 58-50. The guests led after each quarter 15-13, 28-21, and 41-36. Goedde and Bouley equally split 24 points to pace the GE offense.
