An impressive number of nine wrestlers advancing to the championship finals helped earn second place for the Glen Este varsity wrestling squad in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference East Division Tournament. Two of the Trojans were champions along with one Milford matman in the conference classic that took place at Glen Este High School.

Loveland was the tournament team titlist with a total of 214 points, Glen Este had 146, Wilmington 129, Anderson 118, Little Miami 73, Milford 58, Turpin 48.5, and Kings 33.

The FAVC East champions and the results of their respective finale bouts were Caleb Ervin of Glen Este (103-pounds) over Conor Brockman of Anderson 9-7, Jimmy Shamblin of Milford (140) over Cam Adams of Loveland 5-1, and Kyle Turner of Glen Este (285) over Matt Evans of Wilmington 11-2.

Said Jim Costello, Milford head coach of Shamblin’s superb tourney effort, “To win this weekend Jimmy had to beat two wrestlers he lost to just two weeks ago, and he did.”

To complete the Purple and White’s prominent performance in the championship bouts, seven of the GE grapplers were runner-up. They were Jon Piatt (119), Josh Clift (125), Max Davis (135), John Mikolay (160), Cory Burris (171), Travis Jones (189), and Michael Kennedy (215).

Milford turned in a respectable effort in the consolation finals. Taking third place were A. J. Bostrom (112) and Alex Weigel (152). Finishing fourth were Gage House (103) and Dylan Williams (171).
