One high school student from Batavia High School is honored at the first meeting of the Batavia Rotary Club each month during the school year.

These students live their lives in a manner that exemplifies the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.” Eric Brown was honored as the club’s Batavia High School “Student of the Month” for December 2010.

Eric is being recognized for his service in the school community and leadership in the classroom. Felicia Grooms, Batavia High School Guidance Counselor, commented that, “Eric is one of the many examples of Batavia’s student leaders who are committed to their family and school community is very outgoing and works extremely hard to attain his goals.”

Eric is planning on attending the college of his choice. He is currently evaluations his respective options. At Batavia, Eric is very active in all aspects of the high school experience.

Eric is a four year starter on the school’s golf team and each of those years was named the player of the year in the Southern Buckeye Athletic and Academic Conference – National Division. This year Eric was recognized by the Cincinnati Enquirer by being named the Division II Player of the Year in Golf for all of Southwest Ohio. He works with kids to mentor and guide them in his sport and actively seeks out volunteer opportunities in the community.

Eric is taking an aggressive course load while at Batavia and looks forward to the challenging courses and opportunities that college will provide.

The Batavia Rotary Club is comprised of a diverse group of community-minded members from Batavia and the surrounding areas that are working together to address various community and international needs and to promote peace and understanding throughout the world.
