In recognition of the 60th anniversary of the Korean War residents of Miami Township gathered for the ground breaking ceremony for a Korean War Memorial erected in Miami Meadows park.

The memorial is designed to be one marker in the eight and a half acre Spirit of ’76 Memorial Garden and Arboretum honoring veterans of every United States military conflict from the Revolutionary War to present, according to organizer Bill Knepp.

Knepp said recognition of those who served in the Korean War, often called the Forgotten War, is long overdue and he wanted to memorialize the 19 or 20 Clermont Countians who died on Korean soil between 1950 and 1953.
