Amelia Planning Commission meeting changed
Due to the election, the November meeting of the Amelia Planning Commission has been changed to Wednesday, Nov. 3. The meeting will be held at the normally scheduled time – 7 p.m. at the Amelia Municipal Building, 44 West Main Street.
True blue Reds fan gets visit from Mr. Red
Irene James has been a Cincinnati Reds fan her entire life. That is quite an accomplishment as Irene is 98-years-old. She has followed and supported the Reds through the championship years and the 100 loss years as well and has been content in just listening to them on the radio.
E-Gals’, Barons’, and Rockets’ goals are girls soccer championship crowns
Milford, Amelia, and Clermont Northeastern are at or near the forefront of their girls varsity soccer races in the Fort Ancient Valley Buckeye Division and the Southern Buckeye American Division, respectively. The E-Gals won a Fort Ancient Valley Conference (FAVC) clash over Walnut Hills’ Eagles 5-0. Junior forward Kelly Yee scored three goals for the winners and Ashli Bowling and Kiersten Johnson each added another.
Milford and Amelia boys soccer squads kicking around their unfortunate foes
Most of Clermont County’s varsity boys soccer squads have been experiencing a superb number of victories. Milford’s mastering of big and powerful programs has earned them local and statewide ranking. Batavia has been on a scoring rampage of late and Amelia, Clermont Northeastern, and New Richmond have been extremely tough on their unfortunate foes.
New Richmond boys race to SBC-American Division cross country championship
New Richmond’s varsity boys cross country squad convincingly won the Southern Buckeye Conference American Division championship. The Lions scored 35 points, Amelia 96, Bethel-Tate 112, Western Brown 119, and Goshen 200.
Batavia wins first game; New Richmond and Williamsburg winning streaks continue
Batavia won its first game of the year and New Richmond and Williamsburg continue to thrash their opponents to highlight Week Eight of the Clermont County high school varsity football scene. Batavia (1-7 overall, 1-3 Southern Buckeye Conference American Division) outlasted Bethel-Tate (1-7 overall, 1-3 Southern Buckeye Conference American Division) 28-21. The visiting Bulldogs owned leads of 7-0, 21-14, and 21-14 at the end of each quarter.
Girl Scouts learn about garbage patch
Great River’s Girl Scout Troop #41280 of Bethe has been learning about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch and the time it takes items to break down when tossed in a landfill. That is the inspiration of their “Dream Rocket” project panel: “Reduce, Reuse, & Recycle..Make a difference one piece at a time.”

Nora F. Rains, 75, of Blanchester died Friday, Oct. 15. She was a member of St. Angela Merici Parish St. Patrick Chapel. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010 at Megie Funeral Home, Mt. Orab.
