Union Township police, fire departments to participate in Halloween celebrations
Halloween Trick or Treat in Union Township has been set for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31. Treats will be available at the Union Township Police Department, 4312 Glen Este-Withamsville Road, and police officers will distribute treats while on patrol.
Model of Clermont Korean War Memorial unveiled
“This is absolutely amazing. I am thrilled they are doing this,” said 81-year-old Korean War veteran Cecile Dozier of Miami Township, surveying a model of the Korean War Memorial that will be built at Miami Meadows Park in Miami Township. Plans for the massive memorial were unveiled during a news conference at the Clermont County Administration Building in Batavia Thursday, Sept. 16.
New factory in Milford feeds hungry children world wide
A new factory has relocated to a strip mall in Milford, but its product is a little unexpected. Kids Against Hunger is a private non-profit organization started by former pastor Larry Bergeron to provide nutritious food for starving and undernourished children locally, regionally and internationally.
Bethel street work to begin
The Village of Bethel will begin its annual street resurfacing in the coming weeks. The village council worked with the Burke Trust to secure funding for the resurfacing of the Grant Memorial parking lot and the drive in Burke Park. The trust contributed $31,000 to the project.
OVRDC banquet highlights achievements
Clermont County played host to the Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission’s annual full commission appreciation banquet Thursday, Sept. 23. County commissioners and economic development heads from 12 counties from southern Ohio came to Grant Career Center to recognize the impact the OVRDC has had on its members in the past year.
Williamsburg treatment plant opens
The village of Williamsburg held a ribbon cutting ceremony Sept. 23 to celebrate the completion of the wastewater treatment plant improvements project phase 1. This project will improve service to approximately 1,150 sewer customers. The attendees at the ceremony expressed, in one way or another, how important it is to the community that this project is moving full steam ahead.
Child Services seeks approval of .8 mill levy
Clermont County Children’s Protective Services is asking voters for their continued support on Nov. 2. The .8 mill levy will be a renewal and will not increase taxes. The levy raises $3.6 million annually and is used to support children who have been removed from their homes by court order.
Parents plead guilty in death of toddler
Timothy and Krystle Hoskins have each pleaded guilty in the death of Krystle Hoskins’ 2-year-old son Terry Wells. Timothy Hoskins submitted a written plea of guilty of murder on Wednesday, Sept. 22. Hoskins was indicted on charges of murder, tampering with evidence, and five counts of endangering children. Clermont County Prosecutor Don White said his office was glad to have Hoskins accept the plea deal.
School district faces tough choices
The New Richmond Exempted Village School District has been discussing the recent revenue lost when Duke Energy began disputing their taxable personal property evaluation in June, but the board of education has been discussing a much more significant loss of revenue since 2001.
Taking a bath was much different in the old days
We had the little guy (our four year old grandson) last weekend. On Saturday night Yvonne helped him take a bath. He selected some favorite bath toys while she filled the tub with bubbles and laid out a towel.
