New Richmond, Amelia one-two in SBC boys cross country; Bethel, ‘Burg girls second

The Southern Buckeye Conference cross country championship races took place over the 3.1-mile course at New Richmond High School just uphill from the fog covered Ohio River and the valley below the course. New Richmond easily captured the Southern Buckeye Conference American Division cross country championship.

Glen Este’s Thomas and Stoffel top Clermont in FAVC-Buckeye cross country finale

Michelle Thomas, Glen Este High School senior, highlighted the Clermont County performances in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference Buckeye Division cross country championships.

Thomas leads county at Centerville Stampede

Steven Stoffel, a Glen Este junior, was the first Clermonter to finish the 3.1-mile course in 17-minutes, 2-seconds. Other Clermont countians among the best 15 harriers were Nate McQueen of Goshen who was ninth in 18:19 and Brandon Behymer of GE who was 12th in 18:44.

Monroe’s Historical Society to host Harvest Homecoming Nov. 10

Early settlers celebrated the harvest each fall with a time for food, fun, and fellowship with family, friends and neighbors.   The Monroe Township Historical Society hopes to continue this tradition.

Glen Este, Milford, and Williamsburg volleyball net two wins each in sectional tournament action

The autumn sports season sectional tournaments are upon us in various varsity varieties. Glen Este volleyball has advanced through the first two rounds. The Trojans took Western Brown 25-22, 25-21, 26-24 and Turpin’s Spartans 25-20, 14-25, 25-18, 25-20.

Williamsburg winning streak continues; Amelia and Goshen are SBC-A victors

Williamsburg, Amelia, and Goshen were the winners of Week Nine’s Clermont County high school varsity football games. Williamsburg (7-2 overall, 3-1 Southern Buckeye Conference National Division) gained an impressive non-conference triumph over visiting Landmark Christian 43-7. The Wildcats were in control at each intermission 22-0, 29-0, and 36-0.

Irma Martha Parry, 87, of Anderson Township died Friday, Oct. 15, 2010 in Blue Ash. She worked in an RCA Victor factory.

Stella M. Hill, 85, of Monroe Township died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010. Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010 at E.C. Nurre Funeral Home, Amelia and Monday, Oct. 18, 2010 at Hart Funeral Home, Corbin, Ky.
