Robert Thomas Luken, 92, of Milford, formerly of Symmes Township, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2010 in Madeira.

He was born Aug. 7, 1918. Luken served as a Private first class in the Army in World War II and participated in battles in the Aleutian Islands, Marshall Islands, Phillipines and Okinawa. When he returned to Cincinnati he went to work at American Laundry and Machine and later started a family business, Contractors Materials Co., with his father and brother. After retiring he went to work as a grounds keeper for the Kenwood Country Club until the age of 89. He was known for his strong work ethic.

Luken was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Mary Glab Luken, parents William H. and Frances Daly Luken, and siblings Marie T. (Albert) Argo, Edith (Vernon) Hentz, and William H. (Rosemary) Luken II.

He is survived by his daughter Terri (Edward) Pregitzer.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010 at Evans Funeral Home. Interment St. Joseph New Cemetery, Cincinnati.
