Finan and Thomas win 14th Annual Scott McDowell Memorial Run at New Richmond

Eric Finan, current University of Cincinnati and former New Richmond High School distance running star, was the winner of the 14th Annual Scott McDowell River Run.

The 5K run and 5K walk took place in the streets of New Richmond as a part of the village’s River Days celebration.

The proceeds of the event, named in honor of the late former New Richmond High School three-sport standout Scott McDowell, go to the benefit of the Boys and Girls clubs of Clermont County.

Finan completed the course in exactly 15-minutes ahead of a field of 250 runners. Other Clermont countians among the first 25 finishers were Steven Stoffel of Union Township, Timmy Hall of New Richmond, Jo Piatt of Batavia, Alex Ariapad of New Richmond, John Graves of New Richmond, Michelle Thomas (Glen Este High School senior and defending Division I state champion in the 3,200-meter run) of Union Township, Ben Fitzgerrel of New Richmond, Brandon Behymer of Amelia, Grant Gilman of New Richmond, Pavel Jump of New Richmond, Mickie Doane of New Richmond, Tyler Behymer of New Richmond, Emma Uible of New Richmond, and Kristy Grimm of New Richmond.

Age group winners were Billy Buschmeier of Cincinnati (male 1-10 years of age), Melissa Lefler of New Richmond (female 1-10), Theo Lefler of New Richmond (male 11-14), Emma Uible of New Richmond (female 11-14), Steven Stoffel of Union Township (male 15-18), Jamie Thomas of Cincinnati (female 15-18), John Graves of New Richmond (male 19-24), John Ryan of Cincinnati (male 25-29), Hillary Kenkel of Cincinnati (female 25-29), Court Lilly of Newtown (male 30-34), Kristy Grimm of New Richmond (female 30-34), Jeremy Dees of New Richmond (male 35-39), Tracie Sellers of Morrow (female 35-39), Adam Bird of New Richmond (male 40-44), Darlene Page of Cincinnati (female 40-44), Roger Thornberry of Williamsburg (male 45-49), Eileen Hogan of Southgate, Ky. (female 45-49), Mark Eitel (male 50-54), Lynne Graves of New Richmond (female 50-54), Paul Wahlke of Cincinnati (male 55-59), Jean Schmidt of Milford (female 55-59), John Froelich of Felicity (male 60-69), Pat Enders of Cincinnati (female 60-69), and Ken Stewart of Batavia (male 70-older).

There were some very prestigious competitors in the foot race. Stoffel and Hall will be returning for another year after qualifying in state running events in high school last year. Dees and Bird are prep three-sport all-stars and members of the New Richmond High School Sports Hall of Fame. United States Congresswoman Jean Schmidt. Stewart is a seven-state champion in Senior Olympics and a member of the Amelia High School Sports Hall of Fame and a former World Olympics track official.

Wayne Hinaman of Cincinnati was the victor in the 5K Walk in a time of 36:07. A total of 89 competitors completed the course. Clermont countians among the first 25 finishers were Thomas Behymer of New Richmond, Emily Smiddy of Batavia, Kathleen Gough of Bethel, Stacie Miller of Bethel, Lana Gilday of New Richmond, Karla Painter of New Richmond, Tricia Wuest of New Richmond, Mathew Wilcox of New Richmond, Laura Hampton of New Richmond, Glen Hampton of New Richmond, Carl Fischer of New Richmond, Cody Green of Felicity, and Wilma Green of Felicity.

Age group winners were Mathew Cox of New Richmond (male 1-10), Stile Sweet of New Richmond (male 11-14), Audrey Feiler of New Richmond (female 11-14), Joanna Forsee of Cincinnati (female 15-18), Lauren Abbott of Madisonville (female 19-24), Ana Paula Macklin of Cincinnati (female 25-29), Glen Hampton of New Richmond (male 30-34), Melissa Garcia of Florence, Ky. (female 30-34), Tanya Humphries of New Richmond (male 35-39), Stacie Miller of Bethel (female 35-39), Neal Heffernan of New Richmond (male 40-44), Kathleen Gough of Bethel (female 40-44), Tim Deatley of New Richmond (male 45-49), Cindy Leen of New Richmond (female 45-49), Thomas Behymer of New Richmond (male 50-54), Karla Painer of New Richmond (female 50-54), Leonard Webb of Cincinnati (male 55-59), Wilma Green of Felicity (female 55-59), William Baker of Cincinnati (male 60-69), Diana Porter of Cincinnati (female 60-69), and Jack Felix of Ooltewah, Tn.
