Morgan Sperry signs with Ohio Northern University

Amelia High School senior Morgan Sperry has recently signed a letter-of-intent at attend Ohio Northern University, Ada, Ohio, to continue her education and her career in sports.

Her plans are to major in mechanical engineering and to play basketball.

“I like the atmosphere and the people at Ohio Northern. The people are very nice and they are very positive,” she said.

At Amelia High, Sperry lettered all four seasons in basketball and three years in volleyball. She was a Fort Ancient Valley Conference Cardinal Division cage all-star and earned school honors as the Barons' most valuable player in basketball and the prestigious Baron Award in volleyball and was selected as the class of 2010's Female Athlete of the Year.

For other school activities outside of sports, she served as a member of student council and her classroom prowess earned her membership in the National Honor Society where she was elected club treasurer. She was an Amelia representative in the prestigious Clermont 20/20 leadership class.

Her senior year of basketball comprises most of her remembrances of an outstanding prep sports career.

"The best game we played all year this year was when we beat Little Miami. Everybody played really well together in that game. . . We won a lot more games this year than my other years. . . we all played well together."

Concerning individuals of importance in her life, Sperry said, "My parents (Jim and Patti) always encouraged me. Dad came to all of my games. . . (head girls basketball) coach (Tara) Kaiser pushed us to always do our best and she showed confidence in me."
