The Village Association Of Batavia presented two property improvement awards for the month of June to local business owners who made an extra effort in the beautification of their rented property.

One of the award winners was Main Street Salon owner Lisa Taylor.

Taylor has been a hair stylist for 28 years and has operated her salon at the corner of Market Street and Main Street across the street from the County Courthouse for 11 years.

Main Street Salon owner Lisa Taylor was a Village Association of Batavia Property Improvement Award winner.
In late 2009 she began painting the windows and sprucing up the front of the building she rents.

"The building is old, and we like the history, but we wanted to let people know that the work we do is not old," Taylor said. "We are on top of the latest styles. We continue our education so we can provide the newest, greatest looks right here in Batavia where people do not have to use their whole pay check to get it done."

The salon has six stylists whose experiences ranges from Taylor's 28 years to her daughter's two years.

The new windows featured the work of both Taylor's stylists and local photographer John Dingo. Taylor said Dingo is a longtime friend and neighbor both at work and at home and made it possible for Taylor to show off her stylists' work on local clients.

"He does a really awesome job," Taylor said.

All of the work was paid for by Main Street Salon. Taylor said she paid for it in an effort to promote her business and draw more people to the village.
