It has been an entirely superb team effort that has guided Clermont Northeastern’s fast pitch softball team to a 12-2 record and the Southern Buckeye Conference American Division championship and a 24-3 overall standard.

“We’ve had good pitching and good team defense every day. We’ve been consistent all year and all of this has carried us,” said Bill Goldfuss, head coach of the Rockets.

The pitching of freshman Emily Anderson has been a huge factor in the success of the Blue and Gold. She has earned the decision of each of the Rockets’ games and owns an outstanding 0.25 earned run average. In 199 innings pitched she had struck out an incredible 404 opponents. She had seven no-hitters to her credit, and amazingly, five of them were perfect performances, and 17 of the outings ended as shutouts.

Goldfuss points to his team’s defense as another factor in the Blue and Gold’s success. His outstanding defense consisted of Cydney Hill behind the plate, McKena Miller at first base, Raelyn Reynolds at second base, Chelsea Osborne at shortstop, Jordan McGowan at third base, Hayle Asselage in left field, Jennifer Werring in centerfield, and Brandy McQuitty in right field. Of course Anderson was on the mound.

On offense Miller was hitting .459 and had scored 29 runs, Osborne was hitting .351 and had two triples and 10 stolen bases to her credit, Anderson was hitting .342 and had doubled seven times and driven in 28 teammates, and Kaitlyn Harcourt was hitting .315. Jennifer Werrng and Cydney Hill both had four sacrifice hits which topped CNE in that statistical category.

“We only had three lettermen back from last year, but we’ve done well because everyone has played well together. They’ve really come together as a team. We had a good team effort every game. Everybody has contributed to the team’s success,” Goldfuss concluded.

The Clermont Northeastern varsity softball roster included seniors Hayle Asselage, Kaitlyn Harcourt, and Brandy McQuitty; junior Cydney Hill; sophomore Jordan McGowan; and freshmen Emily Anderson, Aryn Fetters, Katie Joslin, McKena Miller, Chelsea Osborne, and Raelyn Reynolds.
