Would you believe that the average household spends 18 cents of every dollar on transportation?  If you are looking for a way to cut transportation costs, as part of the fifth annual national Dump the Pump Day on Thursday, June 17, 2010, Clermont Transportation Connection (CTC) is offering free rides on any of the system’s fixed routes.

“Taking the bus to work not only saves you money, it gives you extra free time to read and relax,” said CTC Director Ben Capelle.

According to the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), a two car household that downsizes to one car can save more than $9,000 in a year.

APTA also reports that one person switching to public transit can reduce daily carbon emission by 20 pounds!

The national Dump the Pump Day encourages people to ride public transportation (instead of driving) and save money.

To try CTC for free on June 17, simply take the Route 1 Felicity-Eastgate Shuttle, the Route 2X New Richmond Express, the Route 3 Milford-Miami Township-Goshen Shuttle, or the Route 4X Amelia Express.

All fixed routes are free all day.  For a list of shuttle pick up and drop off sites, visit the Web site www.ctc.clermontcountyohio.gov or call (513) 732-7433.
