County recognizes returning soldier
The Clermont County Commissioners welcomed home Army Specialist John Tuerck from his second tour of duty in Afghanistan April 28. Commissioner Bob Proud thanked Tuerck for his service on behalf of the county. Steve Caraway presented Tuerck with a congressional certificate on behalf on Congresswoman Jean Schmidt.
Bethel boosters discuss ballfield repairs
Bethel Village Council recently discussed allowing the Bethel Boosters to sell advertising on the baseball fields in Burke Park. Shane Wilson of the Bethel Boosters came before council to address the problem of field maintenance. Wilson said Bethel’s youth baseball fields are quickly developing the reputation as some of the worst fields in the county.
Bick Primary recognized as leader
Bethel-Tate’s Bick Primary School is being recognized throughout the county as the school with a plan to integrate children into the school system. Bick Primary School Principal Matt Wagner recently presented the school’s Ready Schools Initiative to Child Focus and several schools throughout the county.
One of two Amelia police levies fails at polls
Village of Amelia residents will continue to see limited police coverage after a 7 mill replacement levy expected to raise $145,000 annually was voted down by eight votes Tuesday night. A 3 mill renewal levy expected to raise about $23,000 for the police department passed.
Clermont County Township Association annual dinner held
Elected officials from Loveland to Felicity gathered at the Grant Career Center for the 59th annual Clermont County Township Association Annual Banquet. After a meal prepared by the Grant Vocational Culinary Class that earned a standing ovation, the evening’s guest speaker, former Cincinnati Bengals offensive guard and current color commentator Dave Lapham, addressed the meeting.
Grant Career Center students compete at annual SkillsUSA Championship
The 2010 SkillsUSA Ohio State Championships gathered nearly 3,000 members and advisors from career training programs throughout Ohio, including 20 members of the Grant Career Center SkillsUSA Chapter. The 58th annual Skills Championship was held at the Ohio State Fairground Complex in Columbus, April 23 and 24.

Due to the May Primary Elections, Girl Scouts of Western Ohio’s Tuesday, May 4, 2010, Kindergarten Recruitment meeting at the Union TownshipCivic Center for the West Clermont School District is cancelled.
