Political newcomer Surya Yalamanchili carried the Congressional Second District’s Hamilton and Clermont counties and won the Democratic primary with 40.8 percent of the vote.

Despite making his first ever bid for a political office, Yalamanchili received endorsements from numerous local Democrats including current and former Cincinnati mayors and several past second district candidates.

The 2008 Independent Candidate David Krikorian won the Warren, Brown, Adams, and Scioto County portions of the district to take 37.6 percent of the vote followed by 2006 Democratic primary candidate Jim Parker who took Pike County and 21.6 percent of the total vote.

Yalamanchili, the former P&G brand manager and entrepreneur, will face off against Republican incumbent Jean Schmidt in the November general election.
