Clermont County Commissioner Ed Humphrey has been presented with the Royal Coachman Award from the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA).  Humphrey recently completed a term representing Clermont County on the SORTA Board of Trustees.

SORTA operates Metro fixed-route bus service and Access transit service for people whose disabilities prevent them from riding Metro buses.  SORTA is governed by a 13-member citizens’ board of trustees.

“When SORTA board members leave, we like to bestow the Royal Coachman Award to honor their commitment to the development and betterment of public transportation,” said SORTA Board Chair Melody Sawyer Richardson in a SORTA news release. “It’s our way to say ‘thank you’ to Ed for his contributions. He was a valued board member and represented Clermont County well.”

SORTA Board Vice Chair William Mallory Sr., left, and Metro CEO Marilyn Shazor, right, presented Clermont Commissioner Ed Humphrey with the Royal Coachman award on April 20.
"I believe there is a strong link between a robust economy and an efficient transportation system," said Humphrey. "I have enjoyed the opportunity to serve Clermont County on the SORTA Board and I look forward to continued involvement on initiatives to provide cost effective transportation services to the entire region."

Humphrey currently serves as the vice president of the Board of Clermont County commissioners and is the first vice president of the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments.
