If you’re thinking of adopting a dog or cat, you will definitely want to visit the Clermont County Animal Shelter Saturday, May 1 for the Clermont County Humane Society’s Annual Adopt-a-thon and Open House. The event will run from 11:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the shelter, located at 4025 Filager Road in Batavia; on this day adoption fees will be reduced $15 for dogs and cats, and spay/neuter vouchers will be doubled for each animal adopted.
“Even if you are not considering adoption right now, we invite the entire community to come visit the shelter, take a tour of our facilities, and meet our helpful staff,” said Clermont Shelter Director Kim Naegel. “We have a number of wonderful dogs and cats here and we hope the community will visit us first when deciding to add a pet to their home.”
Also during the open house, the Clermont Humane Society will begin promoting their annual Hot Car Campaign reminding pet owners to never leave their animals unattended in a vehicle in warm weather. The temperature in a parked car, even in the shade with the windows partly open, can rapidly reach a level that will seriously harm or even kill your pet.
Opened in August 2003, the Clermont County Animal Shelter can house up to 190 animals. The shelter has a grooming room, two get-acquainted rooms, and an isolation room where animals can be held for observation to assure they have no communicable illnesses that could impact the rest of the adoption center's population.
