Cougar women’s cage team is third-best in USCAA nation for second consecutive year
The University of Cincinnati Clermont College women’s basketball team has earned recognition as the third best in the country among the programs of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) through their showing in the national championship tournament. This marks the second consecutive year the Cougars have earned third place in the country. The Red and Black have earned an overall record of 28-7.
UC Clermont men’s basketball squad third in USCAA national championship tourney
The University of Cincinnati Clermont College’s men’s basketball team gained third place in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association’s (USCAA) National Championship Tournament that took place at Penn State University – Fayette, in Uniontown, Pa. The Cougars began the tournament with a 70-61 victory over the Central Maine Community College Mustangs.
Grant Career students excel in local competition
The Grant Career Center cosmetology students recently participated in a local SkillsUSA contest to earn a spot on the team competing at regional competition in early March. The students were competing for the opportunity to represent Grant in the SkillsUSA Cosmetology contest where they will showcase their skills in haircutting and styling.
New Richmond art students aid Haiti relief fund
New Richmond’s elementary visual arts teachers had an easy time coming up with a theme for their 2010 Ohio Youth Art Month project. Their students did it for them. The project resulted in students and staff at the district’s three elementary schools raising more than $1400 for the Red Cross Haiti relief fund.

Hettie Cornett, 95, of Union Township, died Thursday, March 11. Cornett was a homemaker. Funeral services were held March 15 at Evans Funeral Home.
William Blalock, 80
William McKinley Blalock, 80, of Wartburg, Tenn. and formerly of Amelia, died Tuesday, March 9. Blalock had served in the U. S. Army as a Staff Sergeant. Funeral services were held March 16 at E. C. Nurre Funeral Home in Amelia.
Nelson Covey, 63
Nelson “Butch” Covey, 63, died Sunday, March 7, 2010. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Gerald Randolph, 79
Gerald Floyd Randolph, 79, of Amelia, died Thursday, March 11. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Helen Bishop, 77
Helen L. Bishop, 77, died Wednesday, March 10. Visitation will be held 11 a.m. to noon at E. C. Nurre Funeral Home in New Richmond with graveside services to follow at Greenmound Cemetery.
Rita Brennan, 89
Rita Clair Walsh Brennan, 89, of Amelia, died Monday, March 8. A memorial gathering will be held 10:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday, March 25.
