New Richmond Middle School secretary Mindy Graser has been named secretary of the year by the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators.

The award came as a surprise to Mrs. Graser, who was nominated by NRMS principal Adam Bird.

“It came as a complete surprise to me,” she said. “I didn’t know a thing about it until Adam called me into his office and put them on the speaker phone to announce I had won.”

Mrs. Graser has worked for New Richmond schools for 13 years after a 19-year career at Clermont Mercy Hospital. After two years at Monroe Elementary, she moved to New Richmond Middle School, the first five with Diane Spinnati (now principal at New Richmond High School) and the last six with Bird.

"Adam has been a great person to work for," she said. "I've been lucky to have two great bosses her at the Middle School."

"Those of us who know Mindy personally or professionally know that she is most deserving of this award and that she goes above and beyond what a secretary does in her service to a school and community," said Bird.

She received the award at the OASSA's Secretary Conference in Columbus in February.

Mrs. Graser and her husband Jack have a son, Jason, a senior at West Virginia University.
