League-less Goshen achieves many bowling triumphs; Glen Este boys champs of FAVC-B

The Goshen varsity boys and girls bowling teams have compiled some very respectable records for the 2009-10 season.

“The girls have worked more towards being a team this year than last year,” said coach Shirley Reynolds. “The boys have bowled a great season.”

Amelia
Goshen is the only member of the Southern Buckeye Conference to compete in bowling. The Warriors, Amelia, Glen Este, and Milford are the four Clermont County schools to compete in this sport. The Barons, Trojans, and Eagles are members of the Fort Ancient Valley Conference.

Boys

Garth Whitaker, a senior, has the best average for the Red and Gray, a 156. Seniors Daniel Carpintero and Tyler Pyles are averaging 152 and 149, respectively. Pyles has turned in the best series of the year, 391, and Whitaker has the best single game score, 208.

The male Warriors have victories over Little Miami 2093-2047 (Cody Rodgers 180 single game and 332 two-game series), Mt. Healthy 2102-2065 (Rodgers 204 and Pyles 327) and 2343-2269 (Garth Whitaker 208 and 362), Loveland 2136-2103 (Rodgers 240 and 405), Amelia 2109-2014 (Whitaker 190 and 352) and 2307-1905 (Whitaker 195 and 372), Withrow 2343-2269 (Pyles 203 and 391), Wilmington 2109-2014 (Carpintero 213 and 360) and Turpin 2235-2141 (Rodgers 207 and 367).

Losses have come opposite Milford 2216-2097 (Rodgers 181 and 333), Loveland 2484-2271 (Carpintero 197 and 359), and Amelia 2216-2180 (Whitaker 182 and 351).

In triangular showdowns Milford had 2345, Little Miami 2138, and Goshen 2028 and Milford totalled 2467, Goshen 2093, and Little Miami 2047.

Girls

The Goshen girls have a triumph over Loveland 1732-1509 (Sarah Barrial 195 and 316).

The losses have been to Loveland 1898-1503 (Kyleigh Muse 124 and 226), Amelia 1906-1855 (Barrial 156 and 302) and 1838-1719 (Barrial 139 and 266 and Ashley Tidwell 168 and 266), Turpin 1740-1733 (Barrial 190 and 312), and Mt. Healthy 1761-1700 (Barrial 160 and 294) and 2107-1026.

In three-team matches Milford rolled 1742, Goshen 1634, and Little Miami 1418 (Barrial 161 and 287); Milford had 1848, Goshen 1620, and Little Miami 1536 (Barrial 144 and 263); and Wilmington 2109, Goshen 1704, and Greenview 1546 (Barrial 156 and 310).

Barrial is credited by her coach for rolling most of the team's high games (195, personal best) and high series (316, personal best). Hillary Gentry, a senior, and Tidwell, a junior, were also singled out for exceptional scores.

Fort Ancient Valley

Conference Buckeye

The final standings in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference Buckeye Division boys (followed by overall record) are Glen Este 9-1 (16-1), Harrison 8-2 (13-5), Loveland 5-5 (9-8), Milford 4-6 (12-9), Anderson 4-6 (7-7), and Winton Woods 0-10 (1-14).

Glen Este's Jaekob Pesnichak owns the best average in the division at 209.4, Nathan Franz was fourth 192.9, Nic Pesnichak, seventh, 190.8, Zac Hayes, eighth, 188.4, Paul Hudson, ninth, 188.1, Tyler Dieringer, 13th, 184.9, and Milford's Jason Ashcraft was 15th, 181.4, and Jared Bussell, 17th, 179.1.

The final standings for the girls are Harrison 10-0 (16-2), Glen Este 8-2 (14-3), Loveland 5-5 (9-8), Milford 4-6 (14-7), Winton Woods 2-8 (5-11), and Anderson 1-9 (2-11).

Glen Este's Lauren Gerber had the fifth best average in the division at 167.2, Lorianne Davis, seventh, 165.6, Sarah Rowe, eighth, 156.7, Milford's Samantha Higgins, ninth, 152.2, and Alysson McGeorge, 11th, 147.5, the Trojans' Hannah Ruehlman, 12th, 146.4, the E-Gals' Jessica Olson, 14th, 146.0, Katie Lamb , 18th, 136.3, and Jessica Kovacs, 19th, 134.4, and GE's Erin Hunley, 20, 1340.0

Fort Ancient Valley

Conference Cardinal

The finals boys standings (and overall records) among the boys squads of the Fort Ancient Valley Conference Cardinal Division are Walnut Hills 9-1 (13-4), Wilmington 9-11 (13-6), Turpin 5-5 (8-10), Little Miami 3-7 (5-14), Amelia 2-8 (3-13) and Kings 2-8 (3-12).

Amelia's Zac Vestring earned the second best average in the Cardinal Division with a 195.3.

Among the Cardinal Division girls teams, the standings are Wilmington 10-0 (14-5), Little Miami 7-3 (8-7), Amelia 5-5 (9-7), Walnut Hills 5-5 (9-8), Kings 2-8 (3-12), and Turpin 1-9 (5-13).

The Barons' Sarah Flory owned the eighth best average in the Cardinal Division with her average of 152.5 and Elaina Simons, ninth, 136.9, and Lauren Dietrich, 15th, 132.3.
