Hundreds of people turned out to enjoy a taste of the fine arts at UC Clermont College Saturday, Feb. 20.
The college participated in the Fine Arts Fund Sampler Weekend, and was host to a variety of performances and workshops.
“The event went really well,” said Nicola Vargas, the program manager for community arts and events at UC Clermont. “We estimate that there were around 450-500 people at the event throughout the day.”
Another highlight of the day was the program presented by the West Clermont Dance Company. This talented group of high school dance students presented 11 numbers, choreographed by members of the company.
Kids of all ages got involved with hands-on artistic activities, which included a wool-spinning workshop, a mask-making workshop, and a collage painting workshop.
There was also a craft corner, face-painting, and a gallery exhibit featuring Wisconsin artist Jane Fasse.
"We have been participating for 15 years," Vargas said. "This year, we had two faculty members and two staff members volunteering, as well as volunteers from the student population."
