Clermont County Farm Bureau actively supports the community
Clermont County Farm Bureau is part of a grass roots network including Ohio Farm Bureau and the American Farm Bureau Federation. The organization is open both to farmers (active members) and non-farmers (associate members) for a yearly dues of $60 per family. We take cash, check or credit card. Ohio Farm Bureau offers many benefits and discounts which can easily cover the cost of the dues.
Why join? The county organization has been actively supporting the community in many ways. Last summer, they purchased T-shirts for all Junior Fair Board members and staff as well as purchasing livestock at the county fair. Three $1,000 college scholarships were awarded to high school seniors. The county has donated approximately $6,250 toward the building of the new 4-H center in Columbus.
We have donated numerous books to our county libraries and teaching materials to our county schools.
The state and national organizations monitor our state and national legislatures for items that affect farming and the food industry (such as the current farm bill.)
They are currently leading the fight against radical organizations which are trying to destroy our livestock industry by attempting to stop dairy farmers from milking cows, horse owners from riding horses or hitching them to buggies or wagons, and livestock owners from penning or caging animals in the (mistaken) name of being "humane."
Like most organizations, you can become as involved as you would like. We have plenty of opportunities for involvement or you can merely monitor us through the four newsletters we send out each year or by visiting the Clermont county page on the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation website (www.ofbf.org.) Call the Farm Bureau office at (937) 378-2212 or toll free at 888-378-2212 to join or for more information.
