For several years, the Clermont County Transportation Improvement District has been exploring ways to promote safe travel, encourage economic growth and make the best use of the land along the state Route 32 corridor. On Thursday, Jan. 28, Andy Johns with the Board of County Commissioners Planning Department presented the results of several studies to a joint meeting of Williamsburg Village Council and Williamsburg Township Trustees.

“The roadway system planned 30 years ago is inadequate,” said Johns. “The Ohio Department of Transportation plan has named SR 32 as a limited access highway. Studies from the late 90s have shown increased traffic crashes along SR 32. What ODOT will eventually do is eliminate all the access roads onto SR 32 and build bridges over the highway. We can sit back and wait for ODOT to do this or we can get the community to plan together and be proactive in what happens along SR 32.”

Johns told the officials that $53 million has been allocated to be used over the next 20 years toward the SR 32 Eastern Corridor.
