Clermont’s Judge Shriver is the new leader of a state judicial organization

Clermont County Municipal Court Judge James A. Shriver is the new president of the Ohio Association of Municipal and County Judges. Supreme Court of Ohio Justice Maureen O’Connor today (February 3, 2010) administered the oath of office to Judge Shriver during the association’s annual three day winter meeting in Dublin, Ohio.

More Clermont citizens are riding the CTC buses

More people are riding the bus to work, shop, and attend medical appointments. “Between 2008 and 2009 our ridership increased by over 33,000,” said Clermont Transportation Connection (CTC) Director Ben Capelle. “Since we took our first Dial-a-Ride bus and converted it into a fixed route bus, ridership is four times what it was in August 2008.” In 2009, CTC ordered five new busses to meet the growing demand for service; four are hybrid busses designed to improve fuel economy by 40 percent.

Forum on Aging helps those who help older adults

Nationally-recognized experts in the field of aging, including author, professor and Gerontological Society of America President Lisa Gwyther, will speak at the 24th annual Forum on Aging from 8:45 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. March 2-3 at Sharonville Convention Center. Gwyther is co-author of The Alzheimer’s Action Plan, a book where families can turn for authoritative advice and answers to their questions.

Milford Kmart store to shut its doors for the last time in May

The Kmart store located on State Route 28 in Milford will be permanently closed on May 31, 2010 according to a letter sent from Kmart Corporation to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services on Feb. 3. Margie Lynch, divisional vice president for Kmart said that the expected date of the first separation was expected April 6.

Jewell wins New Richmond Middle School Geography Bee

They next time Abby Jewell’s family goes on a driving trip for vacation they can leave their GPS at home. When they want to know where they’re at, all they have to do is ask Abby. “My mom (Rebecca Jewell) and my grandma (Beverly Jewell) take me to a lot of historic places in the summer and I’ve always paid attention to where we’re at,” said Abby Jewell, an eighth grader at New Richmond Middle School.

Dianna Lynn Gunter Vilvens of Goshen, died Saturday, Feb. 20. Funeral services were held Feb. 24 at Evans Funeral Home in Goshen.
