The Bethel-Tate Board of Education held a special meeting Monday, Jan. 25 to discuss plans for an all-day planning retreat session. The session will focus on the financial needs of the district, the pay-to-participate program, open enrollment and staffing concerns.

The school district currently has enough funds to cover operating expenses for the rest of the 2009-2010 school year, but with voters turning down three attempts for an operating levy, the board is looking at a shortfall in the budget for the 2011-2012 school year.

“We know we will need more funding,” said board president Mark Rose. “We all agree that we need additional revenue in some way.”
