Jeanne Houchins, 82, of Amelia and formerly of West Union, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010 at her residence. She was born Oct. 10, 1927.

She worked many years as an auditor and controller in the hotel industry. She was best known for her knitted afghans and homemade Christmas candy. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in West Union.

She is survived by two daughters, Peggy (Jim) Samoya of West Union and Sue Ouellet of Amelia; two sons, Bill (Marcine) Houchins of Odenton, Md. and Art (Patricia) Houchins of Jessup, Md.; one brother, Louis Rice of Leesburg, Fla. and one sister, Betty Vandewall of Cincinnati.

Visitation will be held 1 – 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at E. C. Nurre Funeral Home in Amelia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Amelia.
