Through partnership with the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio and Tata Sons Limited, students of Withamsville-Tobasco Elementary recently welcomed COSI on Wheels into their schools for hands-on science exploration through the Investigating Energy program.

“We are so excited and appreciative to have this opportunity for our students,” said Tonya Schmidt, principal of Withamsville-Tobasco Elementary.

COSI on Wheels, a traveling outreach program of the COSI Columbus Science Center, engages students in a dynamic opening assembly and interactive science activities aligned with the Ohio Academic Content Standards and the National Science Education Standards.

With the help of Dr. Kilowatt, students discovered how to create energy with both renewable and non-renewable resources, tested the power of wind, learned about energy conservation, and worked to complete a circuit.

"The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio is fortunate to have partners who realize educational opportunity is vital to educational success," said Cara Dingus Brook, FAO President and CEO. "By bringing COSI on Wheels into our region's schools, FAO is helping administrators access resources and partners to ensure every child in Appalachia has access to the educational opportunity needed for success."
