The Batavia Rotary honors one Batavia High School students as the Student of the Month at the first meeting of each month during the school year.
These students live their lives in a manner that exemplifies the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.” For December, brothers Matt and Will Walker were honored as the club’s Batavia High School “Students of the Month” for December 2009.
Matt and Will are being recognized for their service in the school community and leadership in the classroom.

Matt and Will are active students involved in the many activities at Batavia High School. They are both in the National Honor Society, serve on student council and are peer tutors and senior mentors.
Will is also involved in the school newspaper and mock trial.
They also serve as captains on the boys varsity soccer team. As soccer players they have brought many accolades to the Batavia men's soccer program. They are both very accomplished soccer players and will continue their participation in the sport by playing at the collegiate level. Both are taking all honors and advance placement classes that Batavia offers.
In addition to their school activities, Matt and Will are involved in the non-denominational high school age Christian group Young Life and also participate in the Columbus Crew's U18 Soccer Academy.
Matt has signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Xavier University and major in business.
Will has signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Northern Illinois University and also major in business. Please join the Batavia Rotary Club in congratulating these two students.
The Batavia Rotary Club is comprised of a diverse group of community-minded members from Batavia and the surrounding areas that are working together to address various community and international needs and to promote peace and understanding throughout the world.
Batavia Rotary Club meetings are held every Tuesday at 7 a.m. at the Hawk Building on Taylor Road, Clermont County Airport. Prospective new members and visiting Rotarians are always welcome. Visit www.batavia-rotary.org for more information.
