The Clermont Northeastern School Board voted to approve a 3 mill inside millage increase at its meeting Dec. 17. The money raised from the tax millage will be used to improve the current facilities in the district.

“This is in the best interest of the students,” said superintendent Neil Leist. “Our general fund and the day to day operations of the schools are in good shape. What the board, Brian Switzer and myself have done to save money over last three years has kept the board from going to the voters for an operating levy.”

State laws allow school districts to enact inside millage, millage that doesn’t have to be approved by the voters, in an effort to maintain and upgrade old or run-down educational facilities.
