Batavia Rotary names Student of the Month

A high school student from Clermont Northeastern High School is honored by the Batavia Rotary Club at the first Rotary meeting of each month during the school year.
These students live their lives in a manner that exemplifies the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.” Melisa Danyel Helton was honored as the club’s “Student of the Month” for December 2009.
Helton is being recognized for her service in the school community and the greater Clermont county community.

Helton is a senior at CNE High School and currently serves as vice-president of the student Senate. At CNE, Helton has been very active in a multitude of activities. She is a member of the Leo Club, the school's yearbook staff, and is on the Academic Quiz Team. She has served as a kick-off mentor for incoming freshman, a teacher's aide in the Computer Science Department and was a member of the Homecoming Court.
In addition to her school activities, Helton has worked at The Cookie Store and attended a summer camp at Tata Consultancy Services where she lead a group the won second place in their competition. Melisa plans on attending Northern Kentucky University to obtain a Secondary Education degree with either a major in Mathematics or Computer Science.
On the ACT she had a perfect score on the English portion of the test with an overall score of 30. Upon completion of her college education, she plans on returning to Clermont County to live and work.
The Batavia Rotary Club is comprised of a diverse group of community-minded members from Batavia and the surrounding areas that are working together to address various community and international needs and to promote peace and understanding throughout the world.
