The Village of New Richmond held its annual River Village Christmas Friday, Dec. 11 and Saturday, Dec. 12. Large crowds filled the streets to enjoy music, crafts, refreshments and carriage rides during the weekend.
“We were very, very happy with the weekend,” said organizer Cathy Kirschner. “The weather was beautiful and we had so many choirs singing around the village. The middle school choir did a great job.”
In addition to the middle school choir, there were performances by the New Richmond High School Troubadours, a brass quartet and Christmas carolers.
The small dog winner was "Bumper" owned by Cindy Durham, medium dog winner was "Sunshine." In the large dog category, "Chinook" took top honors, his owners are Joe and Judy Vogel.
Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived by boat on Saturday to greet the children and pose for photos.
"The committee was very happy with the turnout," said Kirschner. "We had more show up for the ReinDog Parade than ever before. The event just gets bigger and better every year."
"Next year we are planning a parade on Friday night," she said. "A night time parade would be nice with everything lit up. We want to invite everyone to come to the village Christmas parade next year."
The committee is already planning their next event according to Kirschner.
"Our wheels are turning," she said. "We want to have an Easter Bonnet Parade next."
She noted that there will be information about the next event on the village web site www.newrichmond.org within the next few weeks.
