Glen Este male cagers are undefeated; Bethel-Tate wins key SBC-A showdown

The two most favored teams to win the Southern Buckeye Conference American Division boys basketball championship met last Friday evening at Goshen and visiting Bethel-Tate emerged victorious 56-45.

In a very poor shooting game from the field and the line, the Warriors led 7-5 and 21-20 after the first two intermissions, but the Tigers were in control 35-28 after three quarters of action.

Louie Schaljo, senior forward, and Tyler Bullock, junior forward, shared game scoring honors for the victors with 16 points apiece and Poe, senior forward, added 11. For the vanquished, Derek Bunnell, senior guard paced the offense with 13 points.

Two of the county
Glen Este is making a very strong statement in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference Buckeye Division. The undefeated Trojans downed their host, Loveland, 69-54. The Purple and White spotted the Tigers 16-12 first period advantage before knotting the score at 30 at the half and took over after the third stanza 54-42.

Mike Bouley, junior forward, led the GE offense with 16 points, Corey Goedde, junior guard, made 13 and Shane Seckman. junior guard, and Curt Wesp, senior forward, made 12 each.

Felicity recorded its first triumph of the campaign with a 59-48 verdict over the visiting East Clinton Astros in a National Division confrontation of the Southern Buckeye Conference. The Red and White held sway all the way 18-16, 25-27, and 45-40.

Chris Shouse, senior forward, sank 18 points, Matt O'Brien, junior forward, 17, and Dustin Gilliam, senior forward, 10 for the victorious Cardinals.

Western Brown continues unbeaten following a 60-53 win over Clermont Northeastern in Mount Orab. The Rockets blasted off to a 20-16 first period lead and was atop 28-26 at the half before the Broncos grabbed a 48-33 advantage going into the final eight minutes of action.

Seth Varner, senior center, was in the forefront of the Northeasteern resistance by netting 17 points and Jordan Smith, senior forward, contributed 15.

Amelia was beaten by Kings 75-55 on the winners' hardwood. The Knights were on top after each stop 18-7, 36-29, and 57-49.

Senior guard Vernon Harris' 18 points powered the Barons' offense in this Fort Ancient Valley Conference Cardinal Division tilt.

Batavia lost in the Southern Buckeye Conference National Division to Blanchester's Wildcats 59-39. The host Bulldogs were ahead 11-8 after the first eight minutes, but fell behind at the other halts 23-22 and 38-29.

Freshman guard Sam Suttles dropped in 12 points and senior forward Caleb Santel 10 for the Green and White.

Williamsburg took it on the chin from Georgetown's G-Men 62-52. This Southern Buckeye Conference National Division battle took place in 'Burg. The Blue and White led 16-11 after one period of play, but were in arrears the rest of the way 36-22 and 51-36.

The scoring leaders for the Clermont countians were junior forward Matt Richardson with 14 points and junior guard Elliot Young with 13.

Milford lost a Fort Ancient Valley Conference Buckeye Division encounter at Harrison 53-48. A powerful fourth quarter rally by the Wildcats undid the Eagles who led at each halt 6-5, 21-19, and 37-32.

Junior forward Nick Hittner was the Red and White's double digit scorer with 14 points.
