During the Amelia Village council meeting on Monday, Dec. 7, council members faced yet another obstacle in the continuing saga of their annual Christmas Parade.

According to solicitor Laura Abrams, the village has always received an oral agreement from the Ohio Department of Transportation to proceed with the parade outside village limits to end in the parking lot of Krogers on State Route 125. However, this year the village received written notification from ODOT that they could not give permission for the village to use the state route outside village limits as part of the parade route.

After contacting Congresswoman Jean Schmidt for her help in the matter, Police Chief Jeff Sucher received a phone call from an ODOT official after 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7 telling him to go ahead with the parade as scheduled.
