Salon employees at Kharisma Salon in Eastgate will be giving of their time and talents again this year at the Second Annual Haircut for the Hungry event to benefit the Choice Food and Clothing Pantries (an Inter Parish Ministry program) from 3 – 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16.
The Kharisma staff will offer $10 haircuts and $10 head and neck massages to benefit the Choice Food Pantries located in Batavia and Newtown. The salon staff has also added a $10 massage service to this year’s event.
No appointment is necessary to get a haircut or massage. However, service will be on a first come first serve basis. Patrons are also encouraged to bring canned food items to help the pantries.
Donna Miles-Passick of Kharisma Salon, left, prepares with Inter Parish Ministry Volunteer Coordinator Claire Long for the Second Annual Haircuts for Hunger Event, Nov. 16 from 3 - 7 p.m. at 775 B Eastgate South Drive, Cincinnati.
According to salon owner Donna Miles-Passick, "Inter Parish Ministry's programs are very near and dear to my heart, so repeating this event gives us and the community the opportunity to give back."
Miles-Passick said that last year an attendee came because "Inter Parish Ministry helped her out when she was growing up and believed this was a great way to help an agency that was there for her family at a very crucial time in their lives."
Gail Koford, Inter Parish Ministry's development director is excited that the organization could once again partner with Kharisma Salon.
The funds raised are needed now more than ever since we are seeing an unprecedented number of food insecure people this year.
In fact, donated food is given out to assist people, at times, on the day it is received.
