Rep. Bubp to receive Legion of Merit Award
House Minority Leader William Batchelder (R-Medina) has announced that State Representative Danny R. Bubp will be presented the Legion of Merit medal, an award offered by the armed forces to honor officers and those enlisted in the armed forces who have distinguished themselves by exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services.
Heritage Girls collect for kids in foster care
American Heritage Girls Troop OH0522 spent time recdently participating in H.U.G.S. (Heritage Girls United in Giving Service). The girls collected donations of school supplies and other items for duffle bags for children placed in foster care.
Bethel-Tate’s Tolin and Batavia’s Brown pace Clermont County in sectional golf tournament
Moeller’s Crusaders won the 15-team tournament with a total of 297 shots, Milford was sixth with 317, Amelia, 12th, 372, and Glen Este, 15th, 432. Tyler Wade, Milford junior, was the lone Clermont County qualifier for the district tournament. He shot a 74.
Great athletes pace Clermont countians in girls sectional tennis tournament action
Several of Clermont County’s outstanding high school varsity girls tennis stars advanced three rounds in their respective sectional tournaments. In singles competition, junior Sarah Parrish of Glen Este defeated two adversaries before being eliminated.
Milford E-Gals and Glen Este Trojans conclude their respective varsity girls golf campaigns
The girls varsity golf season for Clermont County’s couple of high school teams has come to a conclusion. Only the Division I Glen Este Trojans and Milford E-Gals took part in the prep wars that took place on the local links. The Division I Sectional took place at Walden Ponds. A total of one dozen complete five-member teams competed.
Milford boys water polo squad is a state championship tournament qualifier
The Milford varsity boys water polo team concluded its regular season schedule with a very respectable record of 27-7-1. In regional tournament competition that took place at Mason High School last weekend, the Eagles qualified for this weekend’s state tournament that will also take place at Mason High School.

The varsity girls water polo team at Milford High School finished its regular season with a very impressive record of 27-2. By placing second at the Mason Regional, the E-Gals qualify for this weekend’s state tourney that will also take place at Mason.
Goshen leads SBC-A; CNE and ‘Burg win
Goshen (6-2 overall, 6-0 Southern Buckeye Conference American Division) grabbed a one-game lead in the Southern Buckeye Conference American football chase by handing New Richmond (7-1, 5-1) its first loss of the year in a very hard-fought, extremely-close showdown at New Richmond.
Support group for suicide survivors can help
Every 18 minutes someone dies by suicide in this country. About 90 percent of those individuals who die by suicide have a diagnosable psychiatric disorder at the time of their death (most often depression or bipolar disorder).
Barbara Cruey, 54
Barbara Lynn Cruey, 54, of Cincinnati, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at her residence. Graveside services were held Oct. 19, at Batavia Union Cemetery.
