In the past, Batavia Township trustees have nominated community leaders for the Clermont 20/20 Salute to Leaders Award, but this year they are asking for input from community residents for nominations.

The 2010 Salute to Leaders represents the 20th anniversary of Clermont 20/20. The 17th Annual Salute to Leaders Awards ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 at Holiday Inn Eastgate.

Each year, the Salute to Leaders recognizes the importance of leadership and citizenship within each township.

Several past Batavia Township recipients include the Sauls Family, Harris Wright, Tom and Gina Patt, Paul Tieman, Ken Lowe, Edward Nurre, Richard Crawford, and the BMOP Fire Department.

Nominees should be selected for their willingness to serve others, their personal commitment to make a difference and their ability to see their community as something bigger than themselves. Township officials are asking for nominees who are helping to build a stronger community for the generations who will follow.

Nominations for township and city awards can be submitted online through the Clermont 20/20 website at The deadline for nominations is Dec. 16, 2009.

Nominations can also be dropped off at the Batavia Township offices. Include the recipient name, address, phone number and e-mail address. A brief summary of the awardee's contributions is needed, as well as, the name and contact information of the nominator.
