Williamsburg sewer plant construction set to begin

During the Williamsburg Village Council meeting held Sept. 10, it was announced that phase I in the construction of the sewer plant would begin Sept. 21. Bids for the plant were approved by council on Aug. 13.

On the recommendation of village administrator Patti Bates, the contract was awarded to Building Crafts and ICS Electrical. Building Crafts offered a bid of $1,109,901 for the primary construction and ICS Electrical gave a bid of $153,100 for the electrical work. The engineering company Burgess and Niple, Inc. will oversee the construction process.

Bates told council that the contract for the North Fourth Street reconstruction phase II was awarded to Silver Hawke Construction of Fairfield, in the amount of $238,366.

Also during the meeting, the new public works laborer was introduced to council members. Darren Keller was scheduled to begin work with the village on Monday, Sept. 14.

Bates announced an opening for a Class II or Class III wastewater treatment operator.

Qualified candidates must have a license issued by the State of Ohio to apply for the position. Applications are available in the Williamsburg Village offices located 107 West Main Street.
